2016 Experience Devon set to be the official Visit Devon destination guide.

The 2016 Experience Devon guide is set to be the official Visit Devon destination guide.

Carrier Direct Marketing, one of the UK’s leading tourism marketing support specialists and Visit Devon have reached an agreement to produce a joint destination guide for 2016.

Devon based Carrier Direct Marketing, who have a mailing house, call centre and design studio operate from their purpose built premises in Barnstaple and produce visitor guides for many destinations which include Visit Cornwall, Visit Pembrokeshire, Tourism North Yorkshire and Keswick.

Carrier Direct Marketing first produced the Experience Devon guide in 2015 as the only destination publication promoting Devon to potential visitors out of the region. Following discussions with Visit Devon, the brochure will now become the official Visit Devon brochure being produced as a public private partnership and at no cost to Visit Devon.

In 2015 Carrier Direct Marketing won the Direct Commerce Supplier of the Year Awards for Best Creative and Design Services.

Business Development Manager for The Carrier Group, Alistair Bruce said “It is great to be working with Visit Devon again. With the public sector being hit hard by budget cuts, we have started to look at more ways we can work on partnership projects like this. Whilst there is strong representation for each of the districts within Devon we felt there was no publication that promoted Devon as a whole.

Working with Visit Devon we hope to make the brochure even more of a success than it was in its 1st year. We produce 50,000 copies which are distributed directly to consumers in response to national advertising campaigns, via direct mail to previous recipients, delivered in bulk through the national Tourist Information Centre network, distributed to Keypoints throughout the South West and in response to requests made through the www.theukexperience.com and www.visitdevon.co.uk websites.

Employing over 40 members of staff as a direct result of UK destination tourism, we started the Experience Devon brochure in 2015 as longer term approach to promote Devon where tourism is such a major contributor to the economy and employment and it is great to have the support of Visit Devon and the regional partners.

The research we completed on the 2015 brochure showed that 53% of those who requested a 2015 brochure will have visited Devon this year, 47% were planning an overnight stay of 5 - 7 nights and 45% of people stated that the guide influenced their decision to visit the area.

In addition to producing this at no cost to Visit Devon, we make an annual donation of the proceeds from the brochure to the Devon Air Ambulance Trust.”

Victoria Hatfield, Chairman of Visit Devon commented “Having worked with Carrier Direct Marketing for a number of years, we are delighted to be working together in producing a publication as the official Visit Devon guide. We have a fantastic product and a very strong brand. Having printed material and a targeted marketing strategy to promote it again will help to strengthen the Visit Devon brand and the region against our competitors.”

The brochure is being printed in late December with the national marketing campaigns starting in early January.
